Chinoiserie

Chinoiserie has a long history, often misunderstood as being ‘Chinese’.

In fact it is the result of the first fusion of eastern and western tastes, a term applied to decoration referring to a fantastical notion of the mysterious east, an idealised and exotic interpretation of the Orient.
