Our Folly design layout is at once bold, classical and whimsical. The scene moves between rocks, water and lush foliage, with beautiful birds throughout. With quite a dense layout and a deep, heavy ground comprising both land and water, the feeling is that of being immersed in a botanical paradise.
This richness of detail means there’s always something new to notice, whether it’s the way the birds interact with one another or the textural contrast between the many types of plant. For this reason, Folly is particularly successful in rooms where there is lots of open space, allowing you to admire the full scenic.

Our handmade Papryi Paper has a raw quality akin to materials used in the 18th century. The paper is dipped in colour, and subsequently worn and brushed to create an anitqued effect. This forms the extraordinary canvas on which our artists work their magic.
Our artists are masters of traditional Chinese painting and work in teams to meticulously plan out each room before slowly building up the many layers of detail and colour. To achieve intensity and shade, the artist will blend hues, often using two brushes simultaneously.
